The
Filipino culture is very much in tune with the art and science of metaphysics
--- and I hear such interesting discourse of destiny, feng shui, vibration and
energy, prayer, and yes, even fortune telling everyday, even as they relate to
Noynoy Aquino’s presidency! How? Let me count the ways people from different walks of life discuss this as we take a break for a while from serious politics.:-)
Metaphysics: : division of philosophy that is concerned with the fundamental nature of
reality and being :
a study of what is outside objective experience (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
Destiny
Sa mga nababasa kong comments, naniniwala ang ilang Pilipino na nasa
guhit na daw ng palad ni Noynoy na maging presidente. Some people believe Ninoy and Cory have
both played a very important part, even in their death, to make this happen,
and that all the power of all the opposing forces of the universe could not
stop this from becoming a reality. On June 30, 2010, Noynoy Aquino will take
oath as the 15th President of the Philippines and they say he will fulfill
what he is destined to do-- continue the unfinished business of his parents in
cleaning up the government and making it work for the Filipinos who are worth
dying (and living) for!
Feng
Shui or “Pungsoy”
Some
people(not Noynoy) say that the reason why the President-Elect does not want to live in Malacanang
is because of the palace’s bad feng shui. Asian Journal online ran an article
printed by the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s Rowena Burgos, quoting its feng shui
sources, “The problem lies in the flow of the Pasig River at the back of the
Palace, which exits toward Manila Bay and Laguna de Bay. It also flows
southeast along Laguna de Bay and Manila Bay. This means puro palabas ang
opportunity. We can never contain the water. This greatly affects the country’s
economy and political system!
The
article further stressed that , “Feng shui experts consider landscape feng shui
formation and water flow sources (coming from the mountains down to the flat
lands) highly important to a country, city or any location. The country’s urban
developers are very much into feng shui. They’re aware of the energy source
which comes from the Himalayan mountains all the way down to Thailand, Malaysia
and Singapore. We call it the ‘head of the dragon,’ which is so auspi cious.
And they made sure even their famous Merlion has to be at a certain angle
facing the waters to capture its cosmic chi.”
I have
not come across any article quoting Noynoy about the feng shui
explanation for his not wanting to live in Malacanang. But many people
who are into this would say, “Mabuti nang sumunod sa pungsoy at wala namang
mawawala..mabuti na yung sigurado!" Some people think maybe FVR followed the feng
shui advice and so he stayed in Arlegui (Corylived in Arlegui, too).
Bad
vibes
Bad vibes of Malacanang is
what I read as to why Noynoy does not want to make Malacanang his home in the
next six years.
“Bad Vibes” to some people is more than just
emotion or “arte” or “capricho.”A house like Malacanang has been witness to history.
All events that transpired, and all the people that lived in and even
visited Malacanang exude energy. Such energy can both be positive
and negative. Because of the stories of trials, corruption, crime, etc
that Malacanang has witnessed in the past century, the next occupants may be
affected by this negative energy which fills the palace.
Negative
energy may also come from outside Malacanang—the curse of people who have been
victims of previous administrations. Ito yung sumpa na binibitiwan ng mga
galit sa gobyerno. Such thoughts and words of hate carry bad vibes or bad energy.
But
Noynoy’s “bad vibes” comment about Malacanang, according to others, may also be emanating from
something personal—from the very core of his heart. Let us not forget that it
was the former occupants of Malacanang that detained his father in jail for
more than a decade, robbing him and his family of a normal happy family life
with their father by their side. Remember that these former occupants of
Malacanang were believed to be the mastermind behind the assassination of his
own father in 1983. Would you not feel creeped out at the thought that
these walls of Malacanang may have witnessed all those talks and plots leading
up to the most painful events of your life?
Manghuhula
Yes,
When Noynoy was asked by a reporter if there will be a wedding in Malacanang
within the next six years, alluding to the people’s wish that he ties the knot
with girlfriend Shalani Soledad, Noynoy dismissed the question with this
humorous quip, “ Tanungin ko muna si Madam Auring”…!
Of
course his detractors love to quote this and spread the news that Noynoy will
seek the advise of fortunetellers in making big decisions in his personal life
and in his governance of the country? Really laugh-out-loud picture! But hey,
remember that Joseph (and the technicolor dreamcoat), in the bible, was taken
by the king to be one of his advisers because of the accuracy of his
predictions? Okay, calm down, Madam Auring is not in Noynoy's short list of
appointees.
The
power of prayer
This is what President-Elect Noynoy Aquino holds on to. Faith in God and the power of prayer.
According
to studies, prayers create such strong positive energy that can make miracles
happen. Noynoy says that his ascent to the Presidency has been made possible by
the prayers of faithful Filipinos who share his goal for the country. He also
asks for the Filipinos to continue to pray so that collectively we can and will
realize that positive change we want for the Filipinos as he implements his
policies and programs to help especially those who have less in life.
Why do
many people go to church, do the rituals of pray over or novenas, or walk on
their knees? Their prayer power is boosted by the prayer power of other
faithful people in church, or between and among people praying together.
Ang pangontra—negative thoughts and negative visualization That is why a word of caution to Noynoy detractors---if we are really sincere in what we say that we only hope for the best for this next administration, then maybe we can convert the bad thoughts and prophecy of doom and failure to something positive and optimistic in order to send good vibes, or good thoughts to the next President.
Conclusion
We have to continue to be vigilant, demanding accountability from our leaders but it won't hurt to think affirmatively while we do our own share in creating the change that we want for this country. After all,
his success will be the success of the whole nation as well, right? Whether you believe in metaphysics( a
study of what is outside objective experience) or not, let us remember that the destiny of our country is in our hands, in what we believe in and in what we do. As the President-elect said during his proclamation, "Let us reclaim our nation's greatness."
